Waldorf Star Lantern


When I first started making Waldorf Star lanterns I had a hard time with some of the steps. The instructions were hard to make out in pictures. I really needed someone to 'show' me how it was done. I was unable to find any videos on how to make them. After much frustration I figured it out and since then many people have asked me how to make them. Last night my wonderful husband Bear helped me put together this video tutorial. It's a little rough around the edges; this was our first time using this video editor.     That's some serious origami! Awesome project! You may have doomed my house to become filled with these guys. Can you imagine how cool it would be to have a floating plate of like six of these? You're giving me ideas...

    How did we both turn out to be so "crafty?" ;)

    Hmmm doomed you say? Perhaps I should not tell you my secret plot to make several white lanterns. Using green craft foam I will cut out several Lilly pads for them to float on and then I'll put them in my pond.... How's that for doomed dear sister? (Insert evil laughter here)Your poor hubby will never forgive me for putting THAT thought into your head ;)

    Oh my these are so cool, I am going to share it with my sister and some friends, you did a fantastic job and so did your man videoing it.

    The Bee badges can be worn on coats.

    Hi, great tutorial!
    Well done to you and your husband!
    I have made these lanterns for years but always had to keep one in quite transparent paper until next season to have a sample there for figuring out the process again. And like you, I found it always hard to explain! A written text with illustrations always lacks something you have done such a great job showing us how to do it!
    Your video will be forwarded to a large number of friends who might not speak English but will nevertheless understand! Also, thank you for your kind comment about my "Elvish" bead over at www.newzealandhandmade.co.nz. It was very special to get a commission to do like this one and I would happily repeat it if other people wish me to carve their chosen word(s) into a silver Jewellery piece.
