Sled Display/Ornament

I was feeling a tad nostalgic  this past weekend. Did you make these sleds as a child? I think every elementary student made them when I was growing up. I always thought they were beautiful, and decided to make one for our nature table. They are fun to make,  fast to make, and quite lovely, I will be making up a batch of them for gifts this year.
You will need 11 Craft/Popsicle sticks, glue , paint, and a small piece of floss.
Lay 5 Popsicle sticks out as shown. Cut off the ends of two Popsicle sticks, lay them across the others and glue them down.. Save the ends that you've cut off .
Next use 4 Popsicle sticks to make runners. Layer and glue to the desired length for your sled's runners.
Then glue them on as shown. I used school glue like when I was a kid, but got impatient for it to dry and ended up using hot glue.
Remember the ends I said to save?
Stack and glue them as shown.
Then glue to your sled to make a steering bar.
Paint, and attach a piece of floss for a loop. For an extra gloss I covered the whole thing with nail polish when it was dry. Ta dah! Wasn't that easy?
Have a beautiful winter. Happy first day of December.
Shine on!
